What patients say on Google

“Our family has had nothing but the best support and medical attention for my mother here at the Wolk Center for Memory Health. From the very first phone call asking for information (compassionate, knowledgeable, prompt and kind -- thank you Rene!) to scheduling appointments and getting lots of support throughout the whole process (efficient, thorough, helpful and dependable-- thank you Wendy!) to every single visit with the medical staff: doctors, nurse practitioner, medical assistants, exam givers, social worker, etc, we have been so impressed by the high level of skill, knowledge, expertise, and human warmth. Dr. Pascual Leone is clear, straightforward, yet kind and sensitive, compassionate and warm. Dr. Davide Capone was lovely, so clear in explaining everything that was going to happen, every single staff member that we have interacted with has been such a mensch. We are truly so grateful for the incredible quality of this center. All of the associated places we have had to go to as well for the tests (Shields MRI and pet scan) have also been excellent. So we know we can trust the services that the Wolk center is sending us to. Thank you all so much. We are so very fortunate.”

“We were very excited to work with the Wolk Center. The first phone call I had with Wendy gave me my first glimmer of hope in a while. Even getting an initial appointment was easier than with most clinicians. I was told there would be a team overseeing my mother's care and that a Nurse Practitioner would keep tabs. Sometime after our first appointment, it seemed as though most of our contacts were less-friendly than at first. My mother can be a bit of a handful and while there are memory and cognitive problems consistent with dementia/Alz, she also has some psychological problems that complicate issues. I was most hopeful to have a psychiatrist working with us, and that is where things went south. She was diagnosed within 15min and then treated with little regard. When she became upset or refused to answer, the clinician doubled down and almost antagonized her. After several visits, the relationship became so bad getting her out of the car to go in became difficult because she didn't want to see "that man." Further, the medications prescribed were too strong for her, but the clinician insisted on getting her to the "therapeutic level." Even after I reported that her ADLs tanked, ambulation and speech became severely affected and she fell and fractured her neck, it was recommended we continue to up the dosage because "well, she isn't getting up and walking away, so it must be working." When I questioned that logic and mentioned two months prior she had walked into the office and now needed a walker, had a severely bruised face and a neck brace, I was accused of not respecting the process and getting in the way of the professionals. After her ALF called an ambulance for her because the new dose had her so incapacitated she couldn't function, we stopped going and cancelled future appointments. I will say, we had an EXCELLENT experience with the neuropsychologist and the young woman who administered one of the neuropsych tests. Both treated my mother with a great deal of respect even when she was having trouble answering questions. I'm sad to say I wouldn't recommend this place, but am very happy for those who have had a good experience. It sadly set us back quite a bit, but seems like a valuable place/service.”

“Upon moving from NY to MA, I was faced with reality that I had to address and understand my husband's dementia and its associated challenges. From my academic background, I was able to research programs in Boston and surrounding areas. I was incredibly lucky to have found this facility where each professional is thoughtful, empathic, humanistic, and has a breadth of knowledge about dementias and the disease process. The ongoing support that is received enables the family to face harsh realities and make hard decisions. Each member of the team sees you as an individual and you feel valued, held, understood, safe, and hopeful. That in itself is an incredible gift. After each visit, I feel so much gratitude for having found the professionals at the Wolk Center. I never lose an opportunity to share and encourage others who struggle with this disease to contact the Center. This is a unique and special environment which is fairly rare in today's health care system. My hope is that others struggling with this disease are fortunate enough to find and work with the professionals at the Wolk Center.”

“I’m so grateful for the care, support, and depth of understanding that the Wolk Center has. Bringing my Mom to Boston, unsure of her needs, the Wolk Center not only diagnosed her enabling her to gain awareness and understanding of her needs, they supported me as her caregiver. The facility’s staff is unparalleled in their efficiency, kindness, and support. I’m grateful for their care as we negotiate the journey of neurological decline.”
